Starting with the piano at age 6, Ben has been playing music his whole life. After a short stint on the trombone, he discovered drums the summer his family packed the moving truck in northern Illinois and moved to L.A. Those early drum lessons, that began as a way to help pass the summer before school started, opened the door to what has now become Ben's central form of musical expression.

Twenty-five years later, and after playing drums with scores of musicians, Ben has developed a keen sensitivity for "the song" and a never-ending awareness of what is occurring musically around him. Despite winning a first-place medal for solo-snare drum in the competitive drum-line finals in high-school, Ben's technical chops always defer to tasteful playing.    

Having performed with groups ranging from Jazz to Rock, Classical to Punk, Brit-Pop to Americana and almost everything in-between gives him a deep pocket from which to draw.
